 Strength WoD:

For Load:

Floor Press

5 - 5 - 5 - 5 - 5

.

  • The Floor press is an under utilised movement in the CrossFit world. One we should take more notice of. Why? For the very reason of good shoulder health by getting some horizontal pushing into the mix. Hey why on there floor you say? Well that's an easy one. Because we aren't the type of gym too have a bunch of benches lying around so everyone can "Bro" out three times a week on "beach day"!!
  • Next question you might ask is "I thought all you CrossFitter's hated the Bench Press??" Not true. First of all hate is a strong word. Second of all, we don't like the bench presses reputation as the benchmark of human strength ("Hey bro, what's ya bench??), it is a valuable piece of the strength pie for sure but it isn't the be all & end all. And we don't like howe it gets overused in "regular" gyms the world round.
  • We are visiting it to reinforce the importance of a well rounded set of shoulders and upper body in general. This will be a nice exposure for everyone to immerse themselves in and see how they stack up on the pressing situation. (If you struggle on your Push-Ups or Handstand Push-Ups this may be a game changer for you.
  • You will also be spotting for each other too. So get ready to be fully attentive for the entire session. (And none of the "its all you bro" fluff either!)
  • Hold the standards. Form is priority as always.
  • Scale as needed.
